How to choose a VAPT company in Bangalore
Choose a VAPT company in Bangalore by first checking who is asking for the test. Enterprise customers and SOC 2 or ISO 27001 auditors usually accept a competent manual test from any qualified firm. RBI-regulated entities must test critical systems on a fixed cycle, and SEBI-regulated entities must use a CERT-In empanelled auditor. Then compare manual testing depth, a sample report, the retest policy and who actually does the testing.
Most “top VAPT companies in Bangalore” pages are written by the companies on the list
Search for a VAPT company in Bangalore and the first page is mostly listicles of “top 10” firms, written by firms that put themselves at number one. They tell you nothing about the question that should decide your choice: why do you need the test, and what will the person who asked for it accept?
For most Bangalore SaaS and product companies the answer is a customer’s security questionnaire, a SOC 2 or ISO 27001 auditor, or an investor’s due-diligence checklist. Any competent firm doing real manual testing can satisfy those. For banks, NBFCs, payment companies and SEBI-regulated firms, regulators add frequency rules and, sometimes, a requirement for a CERT-In empanelled auditor. Radiatus is not CERT-In empanelled. If your regulator requires one, we will say so on the first call, and we can still help you prepare and fix issues before the empanelled audit.
Our methods (OWASP testing guides, API and mobile standards, cloud configuration review) are described on our VAPT services page. This page is about fitting VAPT to how Bangalore teams build: fast releases, API-first products, mobile-first fintech and cloud estates in AWS, Azure and Google Cloud regions in India.
Who is asking for your penetration test, and what will they accept?
Start here. The driver decides the scope, the frequency and whether the tester’s credentials matter.
| Who is asking | Typical buyer | What they expect | Empanelled auditor required? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Enterprise customer’s security review | B2B SaaS | A recent manual test of the product in scope, findings fixed or tracked, an attestation letter | Usually no; some customers name their own requirements |
| SOC 2 or ISO 27001 auditor | SaaS and IT services | Evidence that testing happens and findings are managed | No |
| Investor or acquirer due diligence | Startups raising or being bought | A recent report, remediation status and how security is run | No |
| RBI-regulated entity | Banks, NBFCs and other regulated entities | Under the RBI’s 2023 IT governance direction, vulnerability assessment of critical systems at least every six months and penetration testing at least yearly, across the system lifecycle | Check your entity’s specific directions and auditor rules |
| SEBI-regulated entity | Brokers, AMCs, other market intermediaries | VAPT under the CSCRF, annually or half-yearly depending on category | Yes: CSCRF requires a CERT-In empanelled auditing organisation |
| Government or public-sector customer | GovTech and suppliers to government | Audits as specified in the tender or contract | Often yes; read the tender |
The RBI’s Master Direction on Information Technology Governance, Risk, Controls and Assurance Practices took effect on 1 April 2024. SEBI’s CSCRF circular of August 2024 sets testing by category. CERT-In publishes its list of empanelled information security auditing organisations on its website; check any firm’s claim against it.
VAPT that fits a weekly release cycle
A once-a-year pentest of a product that ships every week tests a version that no longer exists. Bangalore product teams usually combine four layers:
| Layer | What it catches | How often |
|---|---|---|
| Automated checks in CI | Vulnerable dependencies, leaked secrets, obvious injection patterns, misconfigured infrastructure code | Every pull request |
| Scheduled scanning | Known vulnerabilities and exposed services on the live estate | Weekly or monthly |
| Targeted manual tests | Logic and authorisation flaws in new features: a new payment flow, a new role, a new public API | Per major release |
| Full annual penetration test | Chained attacks across the whole product, plus cloud and identity paths | Yearly, or as your customers and regulators require |
Most findings that matter in SaaS products are authorisation flaws, where one tenant or user can see or change another’s data, and business-logic flaws, where a workflow can be abused. Scanners rarely find either. Our CI/CD pipeline guide covers the automated layer; the manual layers need people.
What we test in Bangalore fintech and SaaS products
- Tenant and object authorisation: can user A read or change user B’s records by changing an ID in the API, a GraphQL query or a file URL?
- Payment and lending flows: amount and currency tampering, replayed callbacks, webhook signature checks, race conditions on wallet balances and refunds.
- Authentication: OTP brute-forcing and reuse, rate limits, session handling across web and app, account recovery abuse.
- KYC and document upload: file type and size checks, access to other users’ documents, storage bucket permissions.
- Mobile apps: secrets in the app package, certificate pinning, local storage, deep links that skip checks, and the APIs behind the app.
- Cloud accounts: over-broad roles, public storage, exposed management ports, keys in CI systems and paths from a compromised service to production data.
How to judge a list of “top VAPT companies in Bangalore”
- Who wrote the list? If the publisher is on it, treat it as an advert.
- Ask for a sample report. Redacted, from a real engagement. Look for reproduction steps, business impact and specific fixes, not pages of scanner output.
- Ask who tests. Named testers with relevant experience, and how much of the time is manual.
- Ask about retests. Is the retest of fixed findings included, and within what period?
- Check empanelment claims against CERT-In’s published list if you need an empanelled auditor.
- Ask how they handle production. Testing windows, rate limits, emergency contacts, and what they will never do.
- Ask what you get beyond the PDF: a debrief with your engineers, findings in your tracker, an attestation letter for customers.
What a useful VAPT report contains
| Section | Who uses it |
|---|---|
| Executive summary with overall risk and the top issues | Founders, board, customers’ security teams |
| Scope and method: what was tested, when, how, and what was out of scope | Auditors and customers checking coverage |
| Findings with severity, evidence, reproduction steps and business impact | Engineers fixing them |
| Remediation guidance specific to your stack | Engineers and tech leads |
| Retest results showing which findings are closed | Auditors and customers |
| Attestation letter summarising the test without sensitive detail | Sales, for customer questionnaires |
How to prepare your team for a penetration test
A week of preparation saves days of testing time and gives a more useful report. Before the window opens:
- Write down why you are testing and who will read the report: a customer, an auditor, a regulator or your own team. It changes the scope and the report format.
- List what is in scope: domains, API base URLs, app builds, cloud account IDs and any third-party services you are allowed to test.
- Create test accounts for every role, including two accounts per tenant or organisation so testers can check whether one can reach the other’s data.
- Freeze or note deployments during the window, so findings can be reproduced against a known version.
- Tell your monitoring team or provider, and agree how test traffic will be recognised, so a real attack in the same week is not dismissed as testing.
- Name a technical contact who can answer questions the same day and an emergency contact for anything critical.
- Share API documentation or an OpenAPI file and any previous reports, so testers spend their time on new ground.
After the report: turning findings into fixes
The report is the start of the work, not the end. Load each finding into your tracker with an owner and a target date set by severity, fix the critical and high ones first, and ask the testers in the debrief which findings share a root cause, because one fix to an authorisation check often closes several findings at once. Once fixes are deployed, book the retest, then send customers the attestation letter rather than the full report. Track recurring findings across tests: the same class of bug appearing twice usually means a missing check in code review or a missing test in CI.
What drives the cost of a penetration test in Bangalore?
We send a fixed quote after a scoping call; we do not publish rates. Effort, and therefore price, depends on the number of applications and user roles, the number of API endpoints, whether mobile apps are in scope on one or both platforms, the number of cloud accounts, whether internal networks are included, testing windows outside working hours, and how many retests you need. A focused test of one web app and its API is a different job from an annual test across products, mobile apps and cloud. If you are budgeting for SOC 2 as well, our SOC 2 cost guide shows where the pentest fits.
What is specific about VAPT for Bangalore companies
Release speed changes the job. Bangalore product teams often deploy several times a week. A test plan built for a yearly release of an enterprise application wastes money here. We scope tests around what changed: new features, new roles, new APIs, new integrations, with a full test on the cycle your customers or regulators require.
APIs are the product. Many Bangalore startups sell an API or a platform used by partners. That shifts testing towards object-level and function-level authorisation, rate limits, webhook security and token handling, the areas the OWASP API Security Top 10 is built around.
Fintech brings regulators in. Lending, payments, broking and insurance-tech companies, or their regulated partners, sit under RBI, SEBI or IRDAI rules. Partners such as banks and NBFCs often push their own testing requirements down to the fintech, sometimes including an empanelled auditor. Read the partnership agreement before scoping.
Cloud estates grew in a hurry. Teams that scaled quickly on AWS, Azure or Google Cloud often carry old access keys, broad roles and forgotten resources. A cloud configuration review alongside the application test usually finds the shortest path to data. Our Bangalore cloud services page covers fixing the foundations.
Remote testing is normal. Almost everything in a SaaS stack can be tested remotely with written authorisation and agreed source addresses. Internal network tests need VPN or a jump host. Radiatus works remotely and visits by agreement; we have no Bangalore office.
VAPT services for Bangalore teams
Five engagements. Each starts with a scoping call that confirms who the test is for and what they need to see.
Web application and API penetration test
The problem
A customer or auditor wants a recent test, and your scanner report will not satisfy them.
How we do it
Manual testing of the application and its APIs with accounts for each role, focused on authorisation, business logic and authentication, supported by tools. Findings come with evidence, impact and specific fixes, then a retest.
What you get
- Manual test across roles
- REST and GraphQL coverage
- Retest of fixed findings
- Report and attestation letter
Mobile app and backend test
The problem
Your fintech or consumer app handles money or identity documents, and the app is where attackers start.
How we do it
Testing of Android and iOS builds (storage, secrets, pinning, deep links) together with the APIs behind them, including payment, OTP and KYC flows.
What you get
- Android and iOS testing
- Payment, OTP and KYC flows
- Backend API coverage
- Developer-ready remediation
Cloud configuration review
The problem
Your AWS, Azure or Google Cloud accounts grew faster than anyone reviewed who can do what.
How we do it
A review of identity, network exposure, storage permissions, logging, secrets and paths from compromised workloads to data, with fixes ranked by risk and effort.
What you get
- Identity and role review
- Public exposure findings
- Attack paths to data
- Prioritised fix list
Release-based and continuous testing
The problem
A yearly test cannot keep up with weekly releases, and new features ship untested.
How we do it
Targeted manual tests of new features at each major release, scheduled scanning in between, and findings tracked to closure through SemperWise, the group’s VAPT platform, or your own tracker.
What you get
- Per-release manual tests
- Scheduled scanning
- Findings tracked to closure
- Quarterly summary for leadership
Pre-audit testing and remediation
The problem
An empanelled audit or a regulator’s review is coming, and you want to find and fix problems first.
How we do it
We test against the scope of the coming audit, help your engineers fix what we find and retest, so the formal audit by an empanelled firm finds less. We do not issue the empanelled audit report.
What you get
- Pre-audit test against the formal scope
- Remediation support
- Retest
- Clear statement that we are not empanelled
How a penetration test with us runs
Typical for one web application and its API. Larger scopes add testing days, not steps.
Scoping and authorisation
Who the test is for, what is in and out of scope, accounts per role, testing windows, source addresses and emergency contacts, all in writing.
Manual testing
Testers work through authorisation, logic, authentication and configuration, with daily updates and immediate calls for anything critical.
Report and debrief
Findings with evidence and fixes, a debrief with your engineers and findings loaded into your tracker if you want.
Retest and attestation
We retest fixed findings, update the report and issue an attestation letter for customers.

Questions about VAPT in Bangalore
Start with who is asking for the test and what they accept. Then ask each firm for a redacted sample report, who will test and how much is manual, whether retests are included, how they protect production, and, if you need it, proof of CERT-In empanelment from CERT-In’s own list. Ignore rankings written by firms on the ranking.
It depends on who requires the test. SEBI’s CSCRF requires a CERT-In empanelled auditing organisation for regulated entities, and many government contracts do too. Most enterprise customers, SOC 2 auditors and ISO 27001 auditors do not. Radiatus is not empanelled; for those audits we offer pre-audit testing and remediation.
At least once a year and after significant changes, which for fast-moving products means targeted tests of major new features between annual tests. Automated checks in CI and scheduled scanning cover the gaps. Regulated entities follow their regulator’s cycle: the RBI expects six-monthly vulnerability assessment and yearly penetration testing of critical systems.
A scan uses automated tools to list known weaknesses. VAPT adds manual penetration testing: people trying to exploit and chain weaknesses, especially in authorisation and business logic, to show real impact. Customers and auditors increasingly ask for evidence of manual testing, not scanner output.
It depends on scope: the number of applications and roles, API endpoints, mobile platforms, cloud accounts and any internal network testing, plus testing windows and retests. We send a fixed quote after a scoping call and include the retest of fixed findings. We do not publish rates.
Yes, and we recommend it. Most serious mobile app issues sit in the APIs behind the app, such as missing authorisation checks, while the app package itself can leak secrets or skip checks through deep links. Testing both together finds issues neither test finds alone.
We agree testing windows, rate limits and contacts in advance, avoid destructive techniques, and stop immediately if anything unexpected happens. Many Bangalore teams prefer testing a staging environment that mirrors production, with a lighter check of production configuration afterwards.
No. Radiatus works remotely and tests over the internet with written authorisation and agreed source addresses; internal network tests use a VPN or jump host. Visits for workshops or internal testing are arranged by agreement.
Need a penetration test that satisfies the person asking for it?
Tell us who asked for the test, what is in scope and any deadline. A senior tester will reply with a scope, the questions we still have and a fixed quote.
